The EXIST-Forschungstransferprojekt Torque-Drive is working under the mentorship of Univ.-Prof. Dr. ir. Dr. h. c. Rik W. De Doncker on the development and implementation of a segmented, modular high-torque synchronous reluctance motor. The Institute of Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) of the RWTH Aachen University has been researching and developing power electronics, electric drives and battery storage systems for the last 50 years.
The Electrical Drives research group has over 20 years research and development experience on design of electrical machines, frequency inverters and digital control. Especially, the design of reluctance motor drive systems has been a focus for the last years laying the foundations for TorqueWerk.
